Fine Arts: Music Boosters

Music Boosters Meeting-October Minutes

November 10, 2009

The East Central Music Boosters met on Monday, October 20, 2009 @ 6:00 pm in the EC choir/band room with 10 members present. President Heidi Lippens called the meeting to order @ 6:00 pm. The secretary’s minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given and a motion to accept the report as read was approved.

OLD BUSINESS

Heidi Lippens reported that both the Raider Regiment and the Jrl High band did well at the Marchin & Movin Parade and Competition in Bellevue. The Jr. High band took first place honors in the parade competition. The Raider Regiment took first place in both the parade and field competition.

State Marching Band was discussed. The Raider Regiment performed in the snow (first time ever at Kingston Stadium) and received a Superior Rating with a score of 82.2 points. A thank you went out to those who provided food and drink for the day; Kris Wall, Crystal House, Ann Keeney, Michelle Hoffmann, Lorie Kilburg, Kelli Parker, Erica Shoemaker, and Heidi Lippens. A thank you was read from the band students in appreciation for the bars and drink the Boosters provided before and after their competition.

Although absent from the meeting due to middle school band practice, Jerry sent word that he ended up ordering 10 new jackets for the middle school band, rather than the 7 he had asked for. The jackets are being discontinued so he calculated numbers for the upcoming years and purchased 10 new jackets. They are currently being embroidered.

Mr. McDonough reported on the Conference Choir that was held Oct. 12. The performance was the weakest he has seen in years. The principals and music directors in the conference will be meeting and discussing if this will continue. East Central and Bellevue are the only choirs large enough to send adequate numbers.

Kelli Parker and Kristi Seamer reported about Wendy’s Night. $105 was earned in October. They stated that we need to send a calendar to Wendy’s so they know when we are in session. Wendy’s did not expect us since Clinton Schools weren’t in session. Kris Wall and Kristi Seamer volunteered to take care of Nov. 9. The Myer’s family will be working December.

Paula Meyerman reported that she has the DVD’s from the Washington D.C. trip ready to sell at the Stadium Concert. She will also be taking orders.

NEW BUSINESS

The Fall Product Sales has started. Students will be selling from Oct. 13 – 27.
Heidi reported on the Soup Supper prior to the Stadium Concert on Oct. 27. Teresa Volquardsen is helping her with the supper. Laura has posted sheets so the students can sign up to bring in food donations and work a shift. Paula is going to take ticket money while selling the DVDs. Parent help is needed from 6:00 – 6:45. Laura sent a note home with students stating this.

The Cattlemen’s Banquet was discussed. Michelle Moeller stated that students are needed in the morning to set up, some are needed to help serve drinks and clear tables, and another group is needed to tear down. Students working the second shift need to arrive at 5:30. We would like some parents to help with each shift. It was decided that the students would wear their green music shirts with khaki pants when they serve. Laura will hang sign up sheets in the music room so students can sign up for the shift of their choice. Heidi will talk with Michelle when it gets closer to see exactly what time the set up and tear down shift needs to work.

With no further business to discuss, Paula motioned to adjourn the meeting.

Respectfully submitted,
Heidi Lippens, stand-in secretary
